Sometimes there's more than one right decision. Expand your field of vision.
EITHER/OR decisions are inexcusable when BOTH/AND decisions are possible. As a leader, you should constantly feel the tension of BOTH/AND decision-making. It should feel uncomfortable. And sometimes, it will even feel impossible, but great leaders don't limit themselves to EITHER/OR decisions. They widen their perspective and expand their options.
Should I correct this person or get them more training?
Should I hire more people or automate the process?
Should I take care of the client or protect the team?
Should I stand my ground or show some understanding?
The answer is usually YES.
